Brief description of the position:
To meet the needs of its clients in the IT sector, FOP EXPERTS CONSEILS is looking for motivated consultants in Application Database Administration. The main tasks would include ensuring the administration of PostgreSQL databases, facilitating the understanding of SQL language, conducting technical test cases, implementing monitoring and problem-solving mechanisms, managing alerts and incidents, and supporting IT specialists.
Main Responsibilities:
Without being limited to them, the main responsibilities of the position are as follows:
- Ensure the administration of PostgreSQL databases;
- Participate in the design of new applications by providing advice and recommendations to product teams regarding schema design rules, the relationship between SQL and the application’s programming language, database integrity, and performance objectives;
- Facilitate the understanding of SQL language and execution plans for developers;
- Implement enhancement, monitoring, and recovery mechanisms for PostgreSQL;
- Optimize overall performance by managing planned capacity and necessary resources;
- Conduct the required technical test cases related to quality assurance;
- Administer PostgreSQL databases in various environments, including user management, security, and recovery;
- Ensure the availability and optimal performance of PostgreSQL databases;
- Implement monitoring mechanisms and resolve potential issues affecting development projects and production systems;
- Manage alerts, problems, and incidents, taking measures to ensure continuity of operations;
- Provide technical support and assist IT specialists in resolving complex incidents;
- Participate in weekly meetings to monitor work progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science OR in a relevant discipline recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education or its equivalent;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the IT field in development OR maintenance OR system evolution, with at least three (3) years as an application database administrator with PostgreSQL DBMS;
- In the past three (3) years, have completed at least one (1) project, with a scope of at least 220 person-days, as an application database administrator in a development OR maintenance OR system evolution context;
- Excellent proficiency in the MS Office suite;
- Good communication and writing skills in French and English.
